Membership CommunicationsJune 23, 2008WAPSO News Bulletin Re: Membership Communications As a follow up to the last round of bargaining we advised the membership that we were reviewing our communications plan as part of our preparation for the next round. Bargaining is right around the corner with our Collective Agreement expiring in October, 2008. We will once again be distributing a survey for member comments on bargaining priorities and meeting members at workplace meetings, but in discussions with other organizations we know that nothing beats one on one conversation for effective two way communication. We have partnered with the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) who have developed expertise in building Communication Action Networks within their membership to keep informed about what the membership is thinking and to keep the members up to date regarding activities of the Association. Ms. Dee Gillies, a representative of IFPTE, is assisting a committee of the Board in establishing a communication action network (CAN) within WAPSO. We need your support and participation. If you want to get involved in helping your Association in enhancing our internal communication process please contact the WAPSO office at wapsoadmin@mts.net or call the office 925-4120 and we will gladly arrange to meet with you and explain how you can help. So when you learn co-workers are meeting for coffee with Dee, feel free to join them. The successful development of this communication network will strengthen the Association's position at the bargaining table and assist in involving many more members in other initiatives of the Association.
